Camps Bay is situated in the heart of Cape Town with a vibrant, passionate community who base themselves on Torah values.
Rabbi Anthony Knopf is the Rabbi of Camps Bay Shul, joining us in March 2013. Together with his wife, Carly, and his three children Dovid, Rachelli and Yehuda he has invigorated our Shul, taken forward the chesed group, and developed a wide range of educational activities for the whole community.
From a Bnei Akiva background, Anthony went to Cambridge University (BA in Theology in 2002). He gained his Semicha in 2006 from Rabbi Zalman Goldberg in Israel. He came to us from one of the largest shuls in the UK, Hampstead Garden Suuburb, where he acted as Associate Rabbi.
Rabbi Knopf’s wife, Carly, taught Jewish Studies until the first of their three children arrived in 2008. She has been involved in developing curriculums in Hebrew schools and has also had training in counselling and in teaching brides and Batmitzvah girls.
Rabbi Knopf’s principal responsibility is to be a Halachic authority and leader. He will be in charge of developing and implementing new social and educational programmes along with all pastoral duties and shul services.
